Architect Director - Head of Manchester

Newspaper Me no background_edited.png

Manchester, UK

£70,000 - £85,000 + Big Bonus

Full Time

About the Role

What philosopher said: “You’ve got to take things to the next level or you’ll just get stuck in a rut”?

Ozzy Osbourne.

He’s right, and there’s nothing about being the Front Man or Woman for this already very established Manchester Office that isn’t taking it to the next level.

The salary is good. The Bonus can be out of this world.

But the biggest benefit will be what you learn and what you can achieve in a place that is serious about being an Architecture business.

9 out of the 10 biggest pension funds are clients. What other practice can say something like that about how they do business?

You’ll be reviewed and supported regularly. The focus will be on helping you play to your strengths, you’ll work really closely with the Senior Management community locally and across the UK. They’ll add in people, resources and Technology wherever you need it to make Manchester their strongest region.

They take professional development very seriously for everyone who works there, especially Directors.

They’re also very well resourced. Which means happy clients and low staff turnover.

You’ll be backed up by a big portfolio from any sector, as they’re in most of them already. How easy would that make your life when it comes to convincing new clients?

I placed someone there last year who said “They’re the best at sharing resource around the offices that I’ve ever seen”.

So whether you’re busy or quiet in Manchester you’ll have the possibility to constantly tweak the project teams from a big resource pool.

All of this is why in only a little more than a decade they’ve grown to 10 offices in the UK, and nearly 300 staff.

Don’t you want a little bit of what they’re on?

What will you be doing?

Head up an office of 15 staff, in a company of nearly 300.

You’ll be tasked with growing the brand and growing the numbers regionally (they’re all grown ups, there aren’t any geographical boundaries).

You’ll be supported by a Regional Design Director, a Regional BD Director as well as a strong board of directors in all of your bids, resourcing, networking, negotiating, designing etc.

There are 2 other Directors and a handful of Associates that will also support and work closely with you at all times.

What you’ll need:

Experienced Architectural professional who has been senior management in any organisation previously.

Experienced at winning new clients as well as keeping repeat clients content.

The ability to accurately report and work with a national board of directors.

An open, friendly and approachable persona.
